12.5 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS

As technologies have become more sophisticated, research on teaching, learning, and technology has become more complex. Recent interests have shifted to understanding how the processes of teaching, learning, and thinking are influenced by technologies and how these elements combine to form contexts for learning. As interests have shifted, many traditional notions regarding design and instruction have also changed; many have been described in this chapter. This shift from learning from media to learning with media has been welcome in emerging technology research and will only strengthen into the 21st century.
