Learner Engagement Division's Description

You are cordially invited to submit proposals to the Learner Engagement Division (LED) for the 2019 AECT International Convention!

The LED seeks to raise awareness of the new implications technology has on learner engagement and foster innovative instructional strategies to increase learner engagement. Engagement is an integral part of instruction, playing an essential role in maximizing learning outcomes and building powerful learning experiences. The LED is be both an active and interactive space, geared toward bringing together researchers and practitioners in a common area to ask and answer questions in order to inform the study of and application of strategies that address learner engagement. Through a shared interest in education and technology, the Division strives to grow understanding of the interplay between pedagogy and learner engagement and develop concepts about how that relationship can be better understood and improved in a range of contexts.

We welcome proposals that support the the 2019 Convention Theme of “Inspired Professional Learning. Inspired Learning Professionals,” specifically focusing on learner engagement. Topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following:

  2. To construct a framework for analyzing various forms of learner engagement
  3. To explore pedagogical shifts for learner-centered instruction
  4. To assess how technology affects learner engagement
