Melissa Jones
Florida State University
Melissa has worked in higher education for over 15 years and has held several positions at various universities. In addition to teaching, she has worked in faculty development and training and has been a campus director of teaching and learning, as well as an associate dean of academic affairs. In each of her roles, she has worked to support systemic changes through equity-minded practices, innovative technology solutions, and human-centered training programs.
Melissa is currently a doctoral candidate in the Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies program at Florida State University. She has a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in higher education, and her primary area of research is in how institutions can create meaningful, inclusive, and equitable spaces for learners in online environments. Melissa is a recipient of the OTP Division’s scholarship (2019-2020) and a career development grant from the Professional and Organizational Development Network (2021) for her work with DEI in higher education.
Since receiving the OTP scholarship, Melissa has called this division her professional home. The division is supportive, engaging, and welcoming, and the work being done in OTP highlights the dynamic intersection of practice and scholarship. As the 2021-2022 Secretary, Melissa continues to benefit from the warmth and incredible knowledge of the OTP Board and its members. She is honored to serve in the role of President-Elect (2022-2023) and is excited for the continued growth of the division.
