Fan Xu
The Ohio State University

I am a Ph.D. candidate of Educational Studies, Learning Technologies at The Ohio State University. I work in the Learning & Experience Design research group (LED, https://u.osu.edu/ledohiostate) under the supervision of Dr. Ana-Paula Correia (https://www.ana-paulacorreia.com). Meanwhile, I am a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center on Education and Learning for Employment (https://cete.osu.edu). I got my master's degree from The University of Hong Kong in 2018 and my bachelor's degree from Shanghai Normal University in 2017.

My main research interests include Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, Computational Thinking, Distance Education, Learning Design, and Learning Analytics. In my recently published article with my advisor and my colleague, we evaluated and compared different videoconferencing systems from the perspective of experiential learning (https://doi.org/10.1080/01587919.2020.1821607). My current research project is exploring the influence of the online socialized knowledge communities (e.g., Teachers pay Teachers website) on computational thinking education and how teachers perceive the usefulness of resources curated by these online communities. This work has just been presented at the 2021 AECT annual convention.

I am applying for the GSA's social media officer position because I believe my great passion for serving peers will contribute to the GSA community. Besides, after years of study and research in the field of learning technologies, I am familiar with a variety of social media platforms. I used to work as a social media manager for a student association at the University of Hong Kong and have experience in managing social media accounts and content. When I was in college, I worked as a social media manager for a student association, including managing social media content and solving problems reflected by students through social media.
