Mentor Endowment Scholarship
 for Doctoral Study in the ECT Field

SELF-NOMINATIONS ARE ALLOWED.

Purpose:
The Mentor Endowed Scholarship is intended to support graduate study at the doctoral level in the field of educational communications and technology. It may be used to assist a student enrolling during an academic year including the summer session at any accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.

Eligibility:
Applicants for the scholarship must be members of AECT and accepted or already enrolled in a doctoral level program as outlined above.

Review Criteria:

  1. Scholarship
  2. Leadership potential
  3. Experience in the ECT field including career, course work, presentations, publications, etc.
  4. Three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with the candidate’s professional and educational background.

Selection:
The ECT Foundation Board coordinates the review of nominations and selects the scholarship nominee.

Application Procedures:
An application letter and any supporting materials, as well as recommendation letters, should be sent to Denise Tobert, ECT Foundation Awards chair at dtolbert@nu.edu.

Nature of Scholarship: The scholarship is awarded and the amount determined generally during years when there is a fundraising campaign to support the scholarship endowment concurrent with honoring a person (not the scholarship applicants)  as an extraordinary mentor in AECT.     See Diamond Mentor Award below.



Diamond Mentor Award
Leaders and members from any area of the association can organize to honor an individual with the Diamond Mentor Award by assisting the foundation in raising funds in the mentor’s name to support the Mentor   Scholarship endowment which provides funding for the scholarships awarded to doctoral applicants. Once a mentor is identified and the process begun additional information regarding donations is circulated. The fundraising goal generally has been $2000. The Diamond Mentor honoree receives a beautiful glass diamond-shaped trophy that is presented during the annual convention and joins the scholarship recipient in other celebratory events and presentations.
