Systems Thinking & Change
Division Board Member (2 positions):

Nate Turcotte

Florida Gulf Coast University

My name is Nate Turcotte, and I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Research at Florida Gulf University. Currently, my research explores embodied teaching and learning with data in technology-rich settings. More specifically, my work aims to understand the affective experience of “feeling” data as instructors and learners collaboratively work together to interpret and negotiate data to support their pedagogical practices.

I attended my first AECT conference in 2014 and since then have been an active member of the community. I have served in a range of positions, especially in the GSA, including in the role of social media officer, communications officer, and most recently as the GSA President from 2018-2019. During my leadership with the GSA, I planned the GSA convention program and organized several projects, including the GSA Research Symposium. I continue to organize the GSA Research Symposium to provide an opportunity to showcase exemplary graduate student work at the annual convention.

In addition to my leadership service with the GSA, I am also a member of the Leadership Development Committee. Even more, I previously organized AECT’s social media task force which investigated AECT’s social media reach and provided recommendations for expanding their digital impact. In 2019, I was awarded the Earl F. Strobhen internship award, and with my fellow interns, conducted a needs analysis that aimed to better understand the mentorship needs of AECT members. Our investigation led to several recommendations for how AECT can improve their mentorship offerings and experiences.

I look forward to serving the Systems Thinking and Change division and giving back to AECT. It would be my honor to serve the division. Thank you for your support.
