Systems Thinking & Change
AECT Board Representative:
Jill Stefaniak
University of Georgia
My name is Jill Stefaniak and I running for the AECT Board Representative position for the Systems Thinking & Change Division. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Learning, Design, and Technology program at the University of Georgia. As a lifetime member of AECT, I have had the privilege of serving our organization in a variety of ways. I am currently finishing my appointment as Past-President for the Design & Development Division and serve as a Co-Editor for the Journal of Applied Instructional Design.
I have served in board positions such as Board Associate, Board Member, Vice President of Communications, and President-Elect, and President for the Design & Development division since 2012. Over the years, I have worked with AECT colleagues to conduct two needs assessments across the organization: one focused on identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities for AECT members and a second to identify strategies to engage instructional design practitioners working in higher education.
I have several years of experience as a practitioner in learning design and performance improvement. I think in terms of systems. Systems thinking has greatly shaped how I have approached instructional design as a practitioner, educator, and researcher.
If chosen to serve as the AECT Board Representative, I will work to help forward the vision of the Systems Thinking & Change Division and represent the best interests of its members. I look forward to collaborating with the STC board and its members to identify strategies to promote systems thinking across AECT as a whole.
