Royce Kimmons

Dr. Royce Kimmons is an assistant professor of Instructional Psychology & Technology at Brigham Young University. He received his PhD from The University of Texas at Austin and has had previous appointments as a post-doctoral researcher at UT-Austin and as an assistant professor and director at the University of Idaho.

As a researcher, he has authored 48 peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals (as well as various book chapters and other secondary publications) and has received numerous awards for his work including the ETR&D Young Scholars Award (2017), the AERA TACTL Early Career Scholar Award (2017), the AECT Annual Achievement Award (2016), and numerous best paper and outstanding research project awards. His work has also been featured in various prominent news outlets, including EDUCAUSE, National Public Radio, Times Higher Education, CNET, EdSurge, THE Journal, and others.

Royce’s scholarly work focuses on open education, social media in education and society, and classroom technology use (e.g., PICRAT). He is the founder of https://EdTechBooks.org and https://EquityPress.org , which are open textbook publishing platforms, and he is among the top 15 most-cited scholars worldwide in the categories of “open education” and “open educational resources” on Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=gC4xC7kAAAAJ&hl=en
