Culture, Learning and Technology
Graduate Student Representative:

Makhosazana Lunga

University of Tennessee Knoxville

I am Makhosazana (pronounced "Ma-co-suh-zuh-a"). I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Learning Design and Technology at the University of Tennessee-College of Education, Health and Human Sciences (Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling).

I have an interest in investigating how culture influences the use of instructional technology within the higher education sector.

I began my career in South Africa where I served at the Development Bank of Southern Africa as an economic analyst. I have also served at a South African based market research organization as a quantitative research manager.

As an E-learning Summer intern at a college based in Jacksonville, Florida, I was exposed to the multifaceted nature of instructional design. I have also volunteered as an instructional designer at a local non-profit organization, a role that enabled me to understand ID/SME relations.

Additionally, I have assisted in the planning of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences colloquium as a Graduate Student Advisory Board member. This position enhanced my ability to be an active listener, collaborator, and communicator. I sit on the departments' Faculty Search Team as a student representative.

Overall, I believe in being transparent and empathetic towards others. I enjoy learning about different cultures and infuse a dash of humor in all that I do.

If selected as the CLT Graduate Student Representative, I hope to be the bridge that fosters professional engagement between CLT and GSA.

Thank you for your consideration.
