Victor Law
University of New Mexico

Dr. Victor Law is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico in the Program of Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences.  He received his PhD in Instructional Psychology and Technology from the University of Oklahoma.  His research explores the social aspects of self-regulation in collaborative learning environments.  In addition, he has been conducting studies examining the effects of different scaffolding approaches, including massively multiplayer online game, computer-based simulation, and dynamic modeling, on students’ complex problem-solving learning outcomes.  Dr. Law has published empirical studies in national and international refereed journals such as Computers and Education, Computers in Human Behaviors, Journal of Educational Computing Research, Journal of Educational Technology & Society, Technology, Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-based Learning, Technology, Knowledge and Learning, Technology, Instruction, Cognition, and Learning, and International Journal of Knowledge Management and E-Learning.

Dr. Law has been involved in AECT since 2009.  He has served in the Annual Conventions of AECT as a reviewer and a facilitator.  In addition, he has served as a Board Associate at the Design and Development Division (D&D) of AECT in 2013.  His experience at the Division allowed him to gain a clear understanding of the culture and the operations of D&D.  During his 1-year tenure as a Board Associate, he worked with D&D members and leadership to revise the D&D Mission Statement, which was finalized at the 2013 AECT Convention.  He hopes to continue to fulfill the D&D missions by working with researchers and practitioners.  He believes that the D&D Division should be a home that fosters quality research and instructional designs, and a safe community that facilitates the conversation regarding design and development.
