University of North Carolina Wilmington
My name is Sheri Conklin and I am an Assistant Professor in Instructional Technology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). My research focuses on online course design and instructor social connectedness in online asynchronous courses. I am also very involved with Quality Matters (QM) and serve as a peer reviewer, Master reviewer, and an online facilitator for QM. Before moving into this role, I worked as the Director of eLearning over a team of Instructional Designers and multimedia developers. I also worked as an Instructional Designer in higher education for nine years.
I am an active member of the Association for Education Communications Technology (AECT) presenting my online learning research within the Division of Distance Learning (DDL) Division in addition to serving as a mentor for the Design and Development competition for the past five years. Most recently, I served as a Board member in the Design and Development Division. I look forward to becoming involved in the leadership of AECT specifically the DDL Division and would welcome the opportunity to serve as the communications officer for DDL. In this role, I would strive to inform the membership about DDL’s mission and activities throughout the year.
