Design and Development
Division Board Member

T. Logan Arrington
University of West Georgia

My name is Logan Arrington, and I am running for a Board Member position for the Design and Development Division! I am currently an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Educational Technology and Foundations at the University of West Georgia. In Spring 2018, I graduated from Florida State University with my PhD in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies. Failure-based instructional strategies and professional issues in the ID&T field, including my participation in the Trends in ID&T Database, comprise my research interests.

I served as the President of the Instructional Systems Student Association at FSU, which allowed me to: organize professional development events such as workshops on authoring tools; serve as a liaison between students and faculty; and assist in planning the program’s annual alumni conference.  Currently at UWG, I serve on the Leadership Team for my department, and I am a member of the Mobile Innovations Lab team, whose goal is to build capacity for 21st Century Skills in rural, low-income areas in western Georgia.

I’ve been involved with AECT since 2015, when I was one of the finalists for the Design and Development (then PacifiCorp) Competition. This experience was a great introduction to the various avenues for professional development and camaraderie that AECT offers. Leading up to the 2017 conference, I served as a D&D Board Associate. During this time, I co-created and facilitated the D&D Reads program. For this upcoming year, I am serving on the Design and Development Competition Planning Committee. Having found my academic home with D&D, I am extremely eager to continue my involvement with the Design and Development Competition and the division at large.

Thank you for your consideration! I look forward to continuing my involvement with this division!
