Jiyoung Kim
Indiana University

Jiyoung Kim has taught for over 2 years as an instructor of teaching how to integrate technology in K-12 courses in the School of Education at Indiana University and has worked as public kindergarten teacher in South Korea. This coming year, she is going to teach play-based literacy for pre-service teachers majoring in early childhood education.

Her research focuses on teacher education especially in computer science, the computational thinking subject area, and technology. Previously, she has worked in Google research group and studied how to design CS pre-service teacher program for teachers who want to teach computer science in elementary school. She conducted a survey of over 300 college/university to identify how/what pre-service teachers are learning about computer science in teacher education program. She has also completed a case study with several universities who are offering computer science teacher licensure programs.

Currently, she is investigating how computational thinking can be integrated in early childhood education settings borrowing teachers' perspective. As an instructor, she works with preservice teachers, and as a researcher, she works closely with in-service teachers. Therefore, she feels she could be an appropriate candidate to contribute to TED communications and its journal.
