Teacher Education
Board Member at Large

Jiyoon Jung
Valdosta State University

My name is Jiyoon Jung. I am an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at Valdosta State University (VSU). I first attended AECT in 2010 as a doctoral student, and I have been actively participating in various activities across divisions since then, including serving as a Graduate Student Representative for the Research and Theory division in 2015. I graduated with a Ph.D in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and have been continuing research on designing an authentic learning environment within the domain of teacher learning.

My work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including British Journal of Educational Technology, Computers & Education, American Behavioral Scientist, and Journal of Experiential Education. My work has also been recognized with awards or funding, including AECT's Design and Development Showcase in 2013 and AERA SIG-IT Best Paper Award in 2014--and most recently, VSU's Faculty Scholarship & Research Grant in 2020.

I am running for the TED Board Member at Large to expand my contribution within the TED division as I have found many of their on-going activities pertinent to my colleagues and students as well as my own research interests. I bring to the position not only the expertise and experience as a researcher in the field but also the passion towards addressing various issues raised in teacher education as they relate to preparing preservice/inservice teachers with using emerging technology seamlessly in their classrooms.
