Cengiz Hakan AYDIN, PhD, is a professor in Anadolu University of Turkey where he has been offering courses in the field of open and distance learning since early 1990s such as Instructional Design, Designing ODL, Trends in ODL, and Research on ODL. He had also served as instructional designer in the Open Education System of the University until September 2017 and as the dean of one of the major ODL faculty of the University between 2013-2016. His current research interest focuses on design and development of ODL environments, integration of new technologies into ODL, Open Education Resources (OER) and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Professor AYDIN served as the President and the Board Member of the International Division of AECT, as one of the board member of the International Council for Educational Media (ICEM). Professor AYDIN has been a member of editorial boards of the journals, the International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (IRRODL), and Educational Media International (EMI). He is currently serving as the editor of the book review section of IRRODL, a member of the steering committee of OpenupEd, and a member of the ICDE’s Advocacy Committee for OER.

I would like to serve as the Board Representative for the International Division of AECT because of the following main reasons:

1. Share the actual issues and problems of the International Division members who live in outside the USA with the AECT Management and community, and act as a catalyst to solve them.
2. Support the AECT Management to develop projects for widening international participation and membership.
3. Develop projects to bring more international associations into AECT and create meaningful activities to strengthen their commitment and belonging to AECT
4. Foster communication between sister international associations and be more active in AECT.
5. Facilitate communication between the International Division and the AECT Management and secure the Divisions’ rights.

I strongly believe in that I can serve successfully as the AECT Board Representative for the International Division due to the fact that;

• I am truly an international academician who actually lives outside the North America and so I can understand the needs and characteristics of international members of AECT better.
• I have been active member of AECT for over the last 18 years.
• I have served as the President of the Division and have been attending not only the membership but also the board meetings for years. So, I have a clear understanding about the International Division’s mission and goals.
