Jiyoon Jung
Valdosta State University
My name is Jiyoon Jung. I am an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at Valdosta State University (VSU). I first attended AECT in 2010 as a doctoral student, and I have been actively participating in various activities across divisions since then, including serving as a Graduate Student Representative for the Research and Theory division in 2015 and a current Member-at-Large of a Teacher Education Division. I graduated with a Ph.D in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and have been continuing research on designing a scalable authentic learning environment with emerging technologies and techniques.
My work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, including British Journal of Educational Technology, Computers & Education, American Behavioral Scientist, and Journal of Experiential Education. My work has also been recognized with awards or funding, including AECT's Design and Development Showcase in 2013 and AERA SIG-IT Best Paper Award in 2014--and most recently, VSU's Faculty Scholarship & Research Grant in 2020.
I am running for the RTD Board Member at Large to expand my contribution within the RTD division as I recognize the importance of broadening and advancing the theory in our practice. I bring to the position not only the expertise and experience as a researcher in the field but also the passion towards addressing various issues raised in the field as a faculty member in a rural area.
