REBECCA BAYECK
Penn State University
I am Rebecca Y. Bayeck, a Ph.D. candidate at the Pennsylvania State University, Department of Learning Performance Systems in the College of Education. I am running for the position of CLT Vice President of Finance and Development. What this means is that I will, among other things, keep records of the division finances and identify division fundraising and grant opportunities.
As the past CLT graduate student representative, I am very familiar with the inner workings of the division and the approaches used to meet its financial needs. But I also see some areas of improvement, specifically the diversification of fundraising techniques. Coming from an institution composed of thousands of students with a wide scope of majors, I was able to meet the funding needs and identify grant opportunities for the Pan-African Professional Alliance (PAN-APA), a graduate student organization I founded. I believe this experience prepares me to serve as CLT VP Finance and Development.
My strongest characteristics are that I am very organized and detailed. Since the position of Vice President of Finance and Development requires being meticulous and organized, I am confident that I can utilize my skills to carry out those duties and to facilitate the inner-workings of CLT as a whole.
