Gi Woong Choi
University of Cincinnati

Gi Woong Choi is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at University of Cincinnati. Prior to joining University of Cincinnati, he was an Assistant Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at SUNY Oswego. He joined AECT as a doctoral student and has been a member ever since. He received his Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State University, M.S. in Cognitive Science and Engineering (Concentration: Human-Computer Interaction) from Yonsei University in Seoul, and B.S. in BioSystems (Currently known as Bio and Brain Engineering) from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Before pursuing his doctoral degree, he worked as a graphical user interface (GUI) researcher and a game user experience (UX) designer. As a game UX designer, he worked on Civilization Online project.  

As a researcher in learning, design, and technology with a previous background in human-computer interaction and user experience, he is interested in exploring educational affordances of different technologies. His research interests span across several topics including but not limited to AI in Education, mobile learning, game-based learning, informal learning, and makerspaces. He has been continuously publishing and presenting his research works. This year, he participated in the Early Career Symposium sponsored by RTD. He feels indebted to the AECT community and the RTD Division, and he hopes to give back and contribute by serving as the RTD Board Member-at-Large.
