I became actively involved with AECT in 2012 as a student while taking instructional technology and distance education courses. I decided to attend the conference after reading a discussion about it in a Facebook group for my university and I am so glad I went with that hunch! While attending the conference in Louisville, I met several friendly members of the GSA who inspired me to become involved. I then joined the GSA and was elected as the communications officer. Once I finished my courses, I thought about becoming active in another division. After participating in a CLT workshop, meeting the CLT officers, and attending the CLT luncheon at the Jacksonville conference, I knew I had found my people. I have served as the CLT Awards Chair for the past two years and would like to continue in that role. During my time with CLT I have been fortunate to attend the summer leadership meetings in addition to collaborating online with many colleagues. I have had wonderful mentors on the CLT board. I have learned much about working with committees, chairing the Awards committee, and selecting award winners from highly qualified nominations. I have successfully completed my duties and strive to do even better in the future. Given the opportunity, I hope to help make the CLT awards highly competitive and well sought-after in the AECT community. I want to assist in streamlining and solidifying the integrity of the CLT awards process. I want to make sure the nominees have a clear idea and are well informed of the expectations. I want to make it as easy a process as possible and remain respectful of nominees’ time. I am happy and honored to be a member of the CLT division and I am enthusiastically hopeful to remain the Awards Chairperson.
