Culture, Learning and Technology
VP of Finance & Development

Dr. Lequisha Brown-Joseph
University of Phoenix

I would like to serve as your first V.P. of Finance and Development for the division. I am a proud member of AECT and have been a member in the CLT-Culture, Learning and Technology Division for the past 2 years. I would be proud to serve in this position for the division bringing leadership skills and the ability to collaboratively plan with others. I have proudly served as the Founder and President of my own non-profit organization, The Learning Lab, to develop a charter school. While serving in this position, I was able to form a governing board of individuals with diverse backgrounds, worked collaboratively with board members, to develop by-laws, aided the organization in fundraising to apply for its 501c3 status, formulated policies and procedures for operations, and managed grant writing activities. I have also worked consistently as a research coordinator in with Dillard University and LSUHSC-No Collaboration to train nurses as clinical research coordinators and associates to operate clinical research labs and trials. In addition, I have been and educator in the field of education for over 18 years teaching grades 4-12 and serving in leaderships positions as science department chair. I currently work as an associate faculty member for University of Phoenix and in the K-12 education arena as a middle school science teacher, department chair and adult education school instructor. As your V.P. of Finance and Development, I will apply these skills to maintain records and finances of CLT, provide updated financial reports at each Board and Membership meeting, identify division fundraising and grant opportunities, oversee division fundraising and grant projects. Overall, I have many connections to education and believe education itself represents an open door to new possibilities in life. Why not stretch these possibilities as far and wide as they will go by being a life-long learner and collaborator so that I can be an educator on the frontlines of change and not a barrier to a stationary system. My motto is “what you don’t agree with, change through the proper guidelines”. Be a leader and conquer all. Being in the trenches daily with students by way of the classroom is where the real work is done and my most interesting and most challenging experiences are centered-on the students. Students are who I severe and all that I do enhance my knowledge and expand my professional career is recycled and re-used to help them to get where I am or beyond.
