Culture, Learning and Technology
VP of Research and Publications

Amy Bradshaw
University of Oklahoma

I’m an Associate Professor of Instructional Psychology & Technology at the University of Oklahoma. My scholarly interests center on transforming my practices, and those of our field generally, to be more responsive and responsible at the intersection of culture, learning, and technology. I am passionate about prioritizing culture – not as an end unto itself, but as a means of pursuing equity, inclusion, and justice in our individual and collective professional work. I am committed to integrating issues of equity and social justice in all my teaching, and pursuing service opportunities that support existing needs while also furthering my own learning in these areas. I will continue to seek and create research and publication opportunities for members of our division, and the field broadly, as awareness grows regarding the need to consider culture as inseparable from learning and technology. Our division can and must help shape directions of future research inquiry and practice in instructional technology.

As AECT-CLT VP for Research and Publications, I draw on a variety of previous and current professional service roles, including AECT-International Division President (2005-06), AECT-ID President Elect and Division Program Planner (2004-5), AECT-ID Board Member (2000-04), IVLA President (2007-08), Co-chair of the (45 member) National Advisory Committee of the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education [NCORE] (2011-14), Executive Committee Member of the Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies (2006-present), and Executive Committee Member of the OU Faculty Senate (2009-11, 2017-18).

Prior and current roles specifically emphasizing research and publications include serving as Editor of the Journal of Visual Literacy (2005-09), Guest Editor of two issues of the ETR&D International Review section (“Internet Surveys Worldwide,” ETR&D, 49(4) and 50(1)), Guest Editor of a special issue of TechTrends (“Ethical Issues, Considerations, and Dilemmas of Instructional Technologists in International Contexts,” Tech Trends 47(6)), and Co-Guest Editor (with Dickson-Deane and Asino) of a special issue of TechTrends focused on the intersection of culture, learning, and technology. In addition to reviewing for other peer-reviewed journals and conferences, I have reviewed for ETR&D since 2003.
