Hello, Dear AECT members!  

My name is Atikah Shemshack!  

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of North Texas (UNT) in the Learning Technologies department advised by Dr. Kinshuk, Dr. Michael Spector, and Dr. Rob Foshay's. I have been very lucky to have legends around me to help me grow and support me as I am trying to follow their footsteps.  

I have been in K-12 Education for over one decade and always have been known for my passion for equity. I am passionate about helping individuals be creative, free, emotionally healthy, follow their dreams, and be global citizens ready for the future. I am a doctorate student expected to defend my dissertation in Fall 2021 and a K-12 Campus administrator who works with teachers to help them grow professionally.  

I have studied personalized adaptive learning, teacher training, and support and presented at international conferences published in international journals. I believe in diversity and that we need to lead by example to show our future -the youth- the kindness by heart, be there for others, being respectful to differences, and always be responsible for our actions are the core features of human being and what makes us healthy, skilled, creative, future-ready, global citizens.  

I always work to ensure, unleash everyone's creativity and keep them motivated in learning lifelong and access the education they strive for, which will help individuals reach their full potential.  

I am a social, practical, motivated, and fast learner, which helps me adapt quickly to my new environments and efficiently meet the job requirements.

My motto is; if you want to change, be the change! It does not matter how small the change is; it makes a difference!  

I am always available to help other educators/researchers to guide them to improve their skills and support them on their path to lead our future to reach their full potential.  

I am currently serving as GSA Webinar Planning Coordinator and looking for a leadership position that will allow me further to serve LED and in large AECT community. I believe my communication skills and social personality make me a perfect candidate for the position.  

AECT is like my professional home, and I am looking forward to serving more to the AECT community, which is considered the professional home for many of us.
