Learner Engagement
President Elect

Kay Seo
University of Cincinnati

My name is Kay Seo and I am a Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at the University of Cincinnati. I received my PhD in Instructional Technology from Utah State University. My research focuses on learner engagement in virtual worlds and social networking spaces, and I have published and presented numerous papers on the topic. I am currently working on a book project on learning technologies and user interaction. I believe engagement plays an essential role in maximizing learning outcomes and building powerful learning experiences. The form and nature of learner engagement has dramatically evolved, impacted by rapid technological advancements. To help promote deep understanding of the interplay between engagement and technology, I founded the Learner Engagement Special Interest Group for AECT in 2017 and then the Learner Engagement Division in 2018. Over the past two years, the LED has attracted over 500 members. I would appreciate the opportunity to serve the current and potential members who are interested in learner engagement and contribute to the Division's mission of stimulating open, vibrant dialogue about how to better engage learners and shaping the direction of effective pedagogy and instructional design.
