Research & Theory Featured Research Coordinator |
Yu-Ju (Sharon) Lin I am Yu-Ju (Sharon) Lin and currently working as an instructional designer in the Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) at Purdue University. I completed my doctoral study and graduated in August, 2015. Throughout my academic life, I not only work as the instructor and instructional designer to teach and design courses but also provide mentorship to graduate students for research studies and professional development in instructional design. Over the past few years, I have had multiple opportunities to be active within AECT and have taken on leadership roles, including conference volunteer and facilitator, and proposal reviewer for various divisions (e.g., Research and Theory Division (RTD), Design and Development Division, Division of Distance Learning). In the spring of 2014, I had an opportunity to work with Drs. Branch and Dousay to plan the 2014 AECT Convention. As a facilitator coordinator, I created the guidelines and templates used to help facilitators smoothly convene a concurrent session and ensure a successful session that left both presenters and audiences satisfied. During the convention, I also serve as the volunteer supervisor to provide some training sessions with facilitators. Additionally, I also dealt with some unanticipated situations during the convention if facilitators cannot facilitate sessions. I continued to work as the program coordinator and volunteer supervisor for the 2015 convention. In 2017, I was elected as the secretary in the RTD and have completed my duty in October 2018. From these professional and leadership experience, I believe I will be a qualified candidate for the Featured Research Coordinator position in the RTD. If I am elected as the Featured Research Coordinator, I plan to continue the activities I am already involved in and build the connection with leadership team to learn the management and operation of a professional organization. |
