Dr. Ismahan Arslan-Ari is an assistant professor in the Educational Technology program at the University of South Carolina. She received her doctorate in Instructional Technology with a minor in Special Education (Deafblind) from Texas Tech University (TTU). She also holds a separate master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Special Education. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Arslan-Ari worked as a lead instructional designer at Texas Tech University Independent School District which delivers fully online K-12 education to students all around the world. As an adjunct faculty, she also taught in Instructional Technology program at TTU.

Dr. Arslan-Ari has valuable research experiences through collaborative research projects related to multimedia learning, technology integration in education, assistive technologies for students with disabilities, adaptive web-based learning systems, and human-computer interaction. She published the results of these research studies in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Her scholarship mainly focuses on multimedia learning, human computer interaction, and the use of assistive technologies. Dr. Arslan-Ari is currently serving as a reviewer for Educational Technology Research and Development, Computers & Education, Journal of Computer-Assisted Learning, and Issues and Trends in Educational Technology.

Throughout her career, Dr. Arslan-Ari has involved in many leadership roles in professional organizations. She served as a graduate student representative for TTU in the Southwest Educational Research Association. Currently, she serves as a board member in the planning of the South Carolina Conference on Innovations in Teaching & Learning. Additionally, she has been a member of AECT since she was a doctoral student at TTU. Dr. Arslan-Ari was also a participant of the 2011 NSF/AECT Early Career Research Symposium. She is seeking the role of Secretary in the RTD division.
